About the Scholarship

The Larry Kono Scholarship honors the legacy of Larry Kono, a respected past president of the Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association (KIAA), whose leadership and dedication helped strengthen Hawaiʻi’s workforce and community. This scholarship supports students pursuing careers in the skilled trades by providing financial assistance to those entering a trade program at Hawaiʻi Community College or a certified trade apprenticeship. Through this award, KIAA continues Larry Kono’s commitment to empowering the next generation of tradespeople and fostering sustainable economic growth in our local communities.
